Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14-24.
Undertaking their DofE gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities or develop existing skills.
Within Scouting, this links directly to the chief scout’s platinum, diamond and Queen’s scout awards.
Humberside Scouts are proud to be a provider of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and we actively encourage our young people to partake in the award alongside the Chief Scouts Awards, that can effectively give them a 'two for one' offering.
Please complete our online form to register: https://forms.office.com/e/RW3qJKbxGG
If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Duke of Edinburgh Advisers who will be happy to help you in the planning, organising and assessment of your award.
Award Levels
There are three progressive levels of programmes which, when successfully completed, lead to a bronze, silver or gold award. Young people create their own DofE programme by choosing volunteering, physical and skills activities, going on an expedition and, for their gold only, taking part in a residential activity.
Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.

The DofE has a number of learning pathways to support you in your DofE role, hosted on a learning platform.
The three learning pathways are:
- Foundations - this is an overview of the DofE for everyone. This must be completed before the other modules.
- Delivering the DofE - for all Explorer/Network leaders supporting the award (includes a 90-minute facilitated discussion)
- Expedition Supervisor & Assessor Course - for anyone supporting the expedition section of the award (includes a 90-minute facilitated discussion)
How do I sign up to these modules?
Go to the DofE Opportunity Finder: https://www.dofe.org/opportunity-finder/training-opportunity-for-dofe-leaders/
The training is free and gives a great insight into how they scheme links in with your programme.
In addition if any leaders and/or their sections would benefit from a face to face induction into the scheme, please contact Jo or Rachel on dofe@humbersidescouts.org.uk
Why not give it a go and enhance your programme with this fantastic opportunity!
